Rishikesh to Joshimath
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Rishikesh to Joshimath, the gateway to the Kuari Pass Trek. The 10-12 hour drive takes you through the mesmerizing landscapes of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag, where rivers like the Ganga and Alaknanda converge. Upon arrival in Joshimath, you’ll check into a guesthouse or homestay and spend the evening acclimatizing while enjoying the tranquil mountain atmosphere.
Joshimath to Dhak Village | Trek to Gulling Top
After an early breakfast, a short drive takes you to Dhak Village, the starting point of the trek. From here, you’ll begin your ascent through picturesque trails adorned with terraced fields, small hamlets, and oak forests. The trek gradually leads to Gulling Top, where you’ll camp for the night, surrounded by dense forests and stunning views of the Dronagiri and Hathi Parvat peaks.
Gulling Top to Khullara Top
The trek from Gulling Top to Khullara Top takes you deeper into the wilderness. You’ll traverse forest trails lined with rhododendrons and oaks, eventually reaching open meadows with breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Khullara Top is your campsite for the day, offering clear night skies ideal for stargazing and preparing you for the climb to Kuari Pass.
Khullara Top to Kuari Pass | Return to Khullara Top
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. You’ll ascend to Kuari Pass, walking through snow-laden trails and ridge lines. Upon reaching the pass, you’ll be greeted with a panoramic view of majestic peaks like Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, and Trishul. After spending some time soaking in the breathtaking vistas, you’ll retrace your steps back to Khullara Top for an overnight stay.
Khullara Top to Dhak Village via Gurson Bugyal & Auli | Drive to Joshimath
The trek continues downhill through the vast meadows of Gurson Bugyal, a picturesque spot with unparalleled views of the mountains. You’ll then pass through Auli, a popular skiing destination, before descending to Dhak Village. From Dhak, a short drive takes you back to Joshimath, where you’ll relax and celebrate the completion of your trek.
Joshimath to Rishikesh
On the final day, bid farewell to the mountains as you drive back to Rishikesh. The journey offers another opportunity to enjoy the lush greenery and serene river views along the way. You’ll arrive in Rishikesh in the evening, marking the end of an unforgettable adventure.
